Altair EDEM Import custom particle (Mesh is not connected)

Hello expert users,

I'm trying to import this stl file as custom particle but it says that mesh is not connected. unit is millimeter. The file is attached also for references.

Hi,

Which version of EDEM are you using? I tried using 2025.1 and 2025.0 and both import the particle in mm without issue.

I'm using the 2024 student edition.

Hi @MG00222,

With the student edition you can only use the CPU solver, so even if you were able to import the particle correctly, you won't be able to run a simulation with that shape.
You can still use the sphere fitting tool to use spheres to approximate that shape. You can find more about the tool here:
