How to mesh shell and frame elements together?

Hi, All.

I have a steel plates supported by steel frame members. May I ask how to mesh the two objects to make them have shared nodes to work together?

I imported the geometry into Hypermesh as shown below, the red area is the steel plate geometry, the yellow lines are frame members.

When I meshed the area using auto mesh, you can see the meshed shell elements and the frame members are not aligned (black lines and yellow lines are not matched). May I ask how I can mesh the frames and areas to make them working together? Thank you so much.

Before meshing you need to trim the surface with lines and then you need to auot mesh.

1 - Go to to geometry and select surface edit.

2 - Using trim with line, trim the surface.

3- Then using automesh your mesh done (nodes with maintained on line)

Thank you for your response. It is very helpful. When I meshed the areas after trimming, I did not see an option of "nodes with maintained on line"

Below is what I saw at my side.

In addition, I have two follow up questions on this. My intent is to make a model that is meshed and be analyzed in LS-DYNA.

I need to mesh the areas and lines to make sure they have the same mesh seeds set up. May I ask if there are some way to ensure that the mesh of lines and trimmed areas have the same mesh size along all edges?
For the imported lines, they have different sections. There are about 100 different sections to be assigned to these lines. However, when I imported the frames from iges, all the frames are imported as one single part. May I ask how can I assign frame sections to the lines?
