How to apply a coating of CFRP to an antenna model in feko?

We want to explore the effect of CFRP coating to our antenna. Since CFRP is an anisotropic material, I am not sure how to model it in feko and apply a thin coating to the antenna faces. If I model it as a layered anisotropic dielectric with a single layer, it doesn't appear in the drop-down menu in the 'coating' option for faces. The 'layered dielectric, option does not have a provision of defining an anisotropic medium.

The Layered Anisotropic Dielectric can be applied to the face that is bordering a free space or a dielectric region.

Select the face where you want to apply a layered anisotropic dielectric.

Define the layered anisotropic dielectric from Construct—>Media.
Select the face where the medium should be defined.
On the Modify Face dialog, click the Properties tab.
In the Medium drop-down list, select the layered anisotropic that you want to apply to the face.

This should set the face properties to the anisotropic medium.

The steps that you have suggested are to modify the face of the antenna, right? Will modifying the face of the antenna be same as applying a coating to the face?

Yes, since it is a layered definition, it can be used as a coating. Layer 1 is on the outside when used as coating.

I don't think I have fully understood this. Is it the face that has to be modified (face medium) or a coating is to be applied (by checking the 'coating' box)?

If I define a layered anisotropic medium, it doesn't show up in the coating dropdown menu. A layered dielectric shows up, but I am interested in the layered anisotropic coating, if it's possible.

I am able to modify the face property itself by changing the medium to the layered anisotropic. But I don't think that's the correct way.

I see what you mean. The "coating" option works only when it is a single homogeneous, isotropic dielectric or magnetic layer. To assign an anisotropic material, you will have to change the "Face" properties and apply it as a whole.
