Motion Solve Installation

Hello,

I need to perform a dynamic stress simulation in which the entire suspension system of my prototype is subjected to stress on the chassis, and I am having difficulty installing the software.

At first, I was trying to install Motion Solve, as I thought it was the best for what I need (I'm not sure if this is the right tool to use, I did a quick search and came to the conclusion that Motion Solve would be the best to use).

I managed to install Motion View, but not Motion Solve. I downloaded these: (screenshot below)

Is anything essential missing?

Hi,

The hwSolvers2025.1 file also contains the Motionsolve solver.When you start installing by using hw2025.1_win64, all software contained in the folder will be installed. From what I can see in the screenshot you shared, the file also contains the Mechanical solver installation file. Therefore, if there were no problems during installation, the Motionsolve solver should also be installed.

You can check the solvers that are installed in the Solver section of the Altair Compute Console.

Another way to check if the solvers were installed correctly. If you open a session of MotionView (or any client in the HyperWorks suite). Go to File > Help > Updates and System Information. You will see a pop up window showing the files that have been installed in the corresponding installation directory.

If you do not see hwsolvers, then either hwsolvers was installed in a different directory or the install failed. If this is the case, I would suggest to reinstall the hwsolvers in the same directory as hwdesktop.

Just adding to @Christopher_Fadanelli and @Yigit Bagci

There is no separate icon for MotionSolve. MotionView is the preprocessor, MotionSolve is the Solver.

You can easily check to see if it was installed by:

Trying to simulate any model. If there is no Solver, it will fail.
Going to File » Extensions, and looking for the Vehicle Tools Extension. This is only shown once the Mechanical Solvers (MotionSolve) is installed.

Hi @GuilhermeKonshi12,

You look to have everything you need from the Marketplace. hwDesktop2025.1 is the desktop installation for HyperMesh, hwSolvers2025.1 is the Mechanical Solvers (MotionSolve), and hw2025.1 is the installation helper.

What difficulties are you having?

The previous message was sent by a coworker, and I believe he didn’t express our issue very clearly.

A few months ago, I successfully installed Hypermesh CFD, not only on one, but on three devices. The team became more interested in Altair, so they decided to install both Motion Solver and Motion View in order to run simulations beyond CFD. However, unlike the Hypermesh CFD installation, where I followed a professional step-by-step guide, in the Altair Marketplace we only downloaded the files from the image previously posted in the last comment.

When searching in the computer’s apps, it is only possible to find Motion View, not Motion Solver. I believe something else still needs to be installed, since we cannot find the Motion Solver app on our device.
