I'm a master's student working on my thesis which is about crash simulation according to ECE standards and one of my simulation include crash according to ECE R95. I am a beginner and still learning about HyperWorks currently.
For this, I need to simulate a Moving Deformable Barrier (MDB) impacting the side of the vehicle. I came across a reference where the MDB was modeled as a rigid body, but ECE R95 refers to it as a deformable barrier. My questions are:
- What is the recommended way to model the MDB for an ECE R95-compliant side impact simulation in RADIOSS?
- Is there an official or validated deformable MDB model (geometry + material) available for RADIOSS or HyperWorks?
- Would using a rigid barrier be acceptable for academic research purposes if the focus is on battery mounting behavior, or does ECE R95 require a deformable model even in that case?
Any help, sample files, or advice on best practices would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
