Dear Support Team,
I recently reviewed the 3D “Axial flux motor” example provided in the Altair Flux v.2025 to familiarize myself with the steps of 3D simulation. As a follow-up exercise, I created a custom 3D axial flux model with a different number of slots, poles, and winding configuration. The output waveforms aligned well with my expectations.
However, I noticed some ambiguities in the flux density map. Specifically, my model exhibits significant magnetic flux saturation at the edges of the stator teeth. To investigate further, I revisited the example model provided in the Altair Flux and observed that the same saturation appears there as well, as shown in the attached images.
My question is:
Is this edge saturation a result of a design flaw or the use of suboptimal materials, requiring a revision of the model? Or is this kind of localized saturation typical and not something to be concerned about? I would appreciate any clarification regarding the cause of this saturation at the stator tooth edges.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards,
