Can MotionView with FlexBody output ply stresses when the input is a 2D PCOMP body from nastran?

Hello! I have a model of a (solar) panel deployment with torsion spring and contact element on my hinges. I included a sandwich panel (CFRP faceskins + AL honeycomb) as a flexible body to obtain stresses. The faceskins have a certain layup and the whole panel is defined through a PCOMP elements(in Nastran) faceskin - honeycomb - faceskin.

I have succesfully ran the simulation and obtained Von Misses stresses around the bolt holes (defined with compliant fixed constraints and stifnesses).

The question is - can I obtain the stresses on individual layers? Just the core or an i-th layer of the faceskin.

Hi @VKR,

Time-series stress results can be retrieved in HyperView from a MotionSolve Flexible Body by plotting the stress contour on the elements of interest. So as long as you can select these individual layers in HyperView, you should be able to extract the stress results.

First, create a stress contour on the elements of interest, then plot the stress and strain data from the selected elements using the Results >> Query >> Plots command within HyperView.

From this plot, you can navigate to File >> Export >> Curve and retrieve the results information for the selected elements.
