How to add a seam weld to this assembly?

Hello,

I am a relatively new user to Hypermesh and Altair products, and recently I encountered a problem regarding an analysis in which I have to use welds. I am trying to connect a cylindrical base with a mounting and I have to realize the connection between these two with welds. I checked many videos, checked the forums a lot but could not find anything that was helpful for this issue. In case it gives an idea about the assembly, I attached a photo that shows one of the edges that I have to connect, but if more information needed I can share them. If someone can give a guidance about joining these two bodies, I would be very appreciated.

Hello,

Yes, I am designing a tensile mounting and trying to see if we have some problems at the weld boundaries, so I am trying to add them and see the stresses. I saw some related videos but honestly I could not apply them to my model because they were quite different from what I am trying to do.

The simplest and most effective approach is to add a chamfer to the edges of the contact zones directly within your CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).

If you attempt to combine both geometries without modifying the interface, you'll likely introduce a sharp edge that acts as a stress concentrator that will cause significant convergence headaches during simulation.

To avoid this, use your CAD tool to merge the two volumes and apply a customized chamfer to the shared edges. This will help smooth the transition between parts and significantly improve solver stability.
