How to achieve a correct penetration depth when working with contacts in motionview?

I am trying to create a contact model for an opening hinge. The purpose is to get force reactions on the fixed constraint (later bolt group) that holds the hinge. The hinge is actuated by a Torsion spring (Spring Mass Damper in MotionView) with preload of 90 deg and KT = 0.05

I have simplified the hinge just to the contact are and made the mesh VERY fine. At the moment I am using almost default values for contact impact model - I have tried changing the penetration depth to a lower value. I am not using any friction model.

Problem I keep encountering regardless of how fine I make the mesh is, that the bodies intersect too deeply among each other. Is there a way to fix this?

I prepared the mesh in HM in meters and imported it into MV as Nastran format also in meters. Before importing I set the units as kg,s,m,N.

The hinge is approx 20mm tall all together
