How to parameterize the cross-sectional shape of 1D beam elements and import it into Hyperstudy

Assuming I have a beam element, but I am unsure which section to use for design? I want to set the cross-sectional shape of the beam as a parameterized variable, assuming a T-shaped beam, and each parameter of its corresponding beam cross-sectional parameters is given an interval. The cross-sectional shape can also be square or circular, and each value of its corresponding cross-section is a variable. How can this form be used in a parameterized model? I know the cross-sectional size can be parameterized by right clicking, but what about the cross-sectional shape?

my suggestion would be using PBARL or PBEAML to have a easier parametrization of the section, as you just need the section type and DIMx for each parameter.

I would assign these fields from the PBARL or PBEAML into the solver deck as parameters.

Thank you for your reply. I am familiar with PBEAML cards, which can set the TYPE of 1D unit cross-sections. I can select the TYPE as ROD or TUBE type, and then parameterize the parameters of ROD or TUBE to input into Hyperstudy. However, I cannot also set the TYPE as a variable. How can I achieve this? I am just learning. If I can set Type as a variable, then given a constraint and objective, I can directly find the optimal beam section and corresponding section parameters that match my working conditions through optimization. I wonder if this is feasible?

in this case you would need to rely on the text parametrization of the input deck file.

Do you mean to use FEM files, parameterize them in Hyperstudy, and then program them using TCL syntax to add the beam section variables I need?
