Hello Community.

I would like to calculate a tank in HyperMesh with Optistruct. This tank contains particles that load the tanks. I have set up an EDEM simulation to determine the reaction forces between the particles and the tank wall. I then saved the forces in a .csv file.
I now want to read the external force into HyperMesh and apply it to my model. To do this, I use linear interpolation under Force. However, I have the problem that the forces arrive incorrectly in HyperMesh. When I compare the mass of the particles in EDEM with the sum of the forces in the .csv, the values match plausibly. If I analyze the forces in Hypermesh via Summarize, I get much higher forces here.

Hi Joachim,

Please follow the instructions given in the below link and even if you're facing still issue please share the files if it is not confidential, if you follow the instruction correctly the forces get mapped correctly.

Also, one check point is the mesh in EDEM and Hypermesh should be same to avoid interpolation issues in hypermesh.

Also, force balancing is the option to be used while mapping the forces.

Here is some more information.
In EDEM I have a mass of the particles of 1788 kg.
If I calculate the sum of the forces in the Z-direction in the .csv file, I get a force of 17546 N, which corresponds to the 1788 kg.
However, when I read the .csv into HyperMesh, I get a sum of the forces of 30170 N.

I use the element size of 10 mm as the search radius.
