Sphere Overlap Contact distance

Description: [I have double spheres in my simulations and was curious if there is a way to calculate the overlap distance? This is not the contact radius correct?

]

hi Jake,

You can copy and paste the sphere position and radius into the EDEM GUI. So if you have the data in a spreadsheet in the same format you can just copy and paste in to define the shape. Don't forget to then go to 'properties' to calculate the mass and inertia.

The overlap distance as in the distance between the two sphere, or during simulation the overlap with other particles?

For the fixed particles it should be possible to see in the Creator particles tab, as we set the sphere radius and centre point, you could find the centre to centre distance and if you know the radius then the overlap should be shown. During simulation you can see overlap with other particles as the Normal Overlap value in the Analyst.

I was referring to the overlap between the two spheres. Could I also import this data for all of the particles that are generated within the simulation? I know this would be a little hard because the size distribution of the particles is very broad
