Edit File Path

When editing a file path in a workspace (switching files) there's no option to show "All Files" the only option is "Delimited Text Files"

This excludes files that aren't saved with the typical .txt, .csv, etc extensions, but are still actually delimited.

Is there a workaround? (Short of manipulating the file to be seen by Monarch.)

    Hi Craig,

This has been reported to the Dev Team.  As a workaround, you can manually type in the new path and file name in the textbox in the Edit File Path dialog.  Copy-paste of path also works.

    Hope this helps.

I've experienced the same thing and at first was told that the specifications of Data Prep Studio didn't allow for other text delimited file types besides those available in the drop-down.  I spent some time convincing the tech that although the specs state one thing, the application allowed me to work with these files in previous versions.  That's when he showed me the work around that Mela mentioned above.  Suffice it to say, I am waiting "not all that patiently" for the update from the Dev Team.

In the meantime, i am using the Copy Path function of Windows Explorer (Shift-Right Click on file in explorer to get this option), then I saved all my new file paths to a Word doc so that I could use the doc as a reference for all the filepaths I needed to update - one of my workspaces uses 20 separate pipe-delimited files in order to update a single table for processing, so it was very important that I use something that made the process as smooth as possible.  It took me about 15 minutes to update all those filepaths, instead of only taking me about 2 minutes, but I was still able to update them and produce the table I needed.  It certainly is not an ideal situation, but I tried to make the most of it and improve the process for me as much as possible.  Hopefully, you will be able to do the same for yourself.
