I noticed a design flaw in an existing model file, so I created a new model file from scratch. However, the new model file is 200KB in size, whereas the old file is only 17KB.
I understand that there is an edit history kept in a model file, but when looking at the model (xml) file in a text editor I noticed edit events by a completely different Windows account from six years ago. I can't figure out how that edit history by another user could have made it into the new model file.
Is there an explanation for this? Prior to creating the new model file, I had a sample report with the old model file open and then merely closed the model file rather than closing the application.
Also, is there a way from the application itself to delete the edit history contained in a model file, rather than editing the file directly in a text editor?
I'm always a little leery when editing files whose format I'm not familiar with for fear of breaking something. So, I took an educated guess when purging the edit history, keeping the <audit> tags intact and nested inside them leaving one <save> row behind.
So, that's why I'm asking whether there is a way to purge all edit history from a model file through the application.
After removing the edit history the model file shrunk to just 14KB.
