Hi I am trying to perform analysis that consists of beam elements attached to tetra elements. Beam elements are generated from lines, after the beam elements were created I can see in the FEM file that there are elements with zero length therefore causing me the ERROR 1026(same node id). (if my understanding is correct). When I try to run element quality check I can that there are 33/71000 elements with very small length (defined by me).

1)But I cannot visualize or perform any action, I know in the older version we can retrieve the failed elements but in the new version I am unsuccessful in doing so. how can I see failed elements?

2) As they are very small will I be able to see? If not I would like to delete them.

Thank you

    Hi,

I am going to exemplify for 1D and minimum size, but this process is the same for any element type and any criteria. On the 1D element quality tab, right click on the scale and select "Save Failed Elements"

With the "Elements" selection active, right click any empty spot in the Model Window: Select > Retrieve Selection

Then you can hit "I" on keyboard or Right click "Isolate" to display only the failed elements on screen. But if you want to delete them, just hit "delete" on keyboard.

Thank you….Marina. It worked, the explanation is very clear. In the previous forums it was not clearly mentioned that I should right click to go into select command and click on retrieve. Thank you again.

I'm glad to know that it is working now! If you can, please, accept that answer, this could help other users
