Can 1D rigids of variable length be created?

Hello everyone. As part of a master's thesis in materials engineering, I am trying to create a FEM model of a ski boot. For simplicity purpose, I'd like to represent the buckles with 1D rigid elements (see image for reference, nr. 1,2,3,4). Starting from a reference length, I must then be able to vary the length of the rigids in order to represent different closing conditions of the buckles. This is quite easy in Abaqus setting the "reference length" value of the connector elements. Can this be modelled in Hypermesh? Thanks to everyone.

i'm not aware of the same approach, but i'd try applying pretension loads into beam elements.
pretension loads can be applied as forces or as shortenings.
