Simulating Mud (Limestone + Water) in EDEM

Hello Community,

I am working on simulating mud (limestone particles <4mm mixed with water) flowing through a chute using EDEM software. However, I encountered challenges while trying to adjust the material's angle of repose (20 degrees) and its properties.

Initially, I created the material using the GEMM Wizard, but I couldn't modify the angle of repose or the JKR coefficient. I also attempted to create the material via the Bulk Material menu, but it seems these attributes are not available there either. While exploring the soil starter pack installed in EDEM, I noticed that the sticky material provided has a significantly higher angle of repose than required for my simulation.

Could anyone guide me on how to adjust these parameters to accurately simulate this material in a transfer chute? Additionally, is there a tutorial or method to simulate the cohesive bonding effect of water with limestone particles?

Thank you for your time and insights. I truly appreciate your help!

Thank you, Jerrin, for your detailed response. Many of my queries have been addressed in this post. However, I would like to know if there is a way to modify the angle of repose of a material, either through the GEMM Wizard or the Bulk Material menu?

    Hi Pablo

In the GEMM Wizard, you can choose the particular angle of repose you desire. Angle of repose is a bulk property, so you will not get an option to modify that in the Materials section.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
