MotionView Specific Guide

Good morning everybody,
I can't find a specific guide of motion view, in order to clearly understand what each option of the program does. For example, i can't find any information about the Integration types in the dynamics settings. There are 4 types and nowhere is written what algorithm each integrator uses and when to use an integrator with respect to another.
The only documentation I found in the site is very similar to a long written tutorial but doesn't go into deep of each option/tab etc.
Can someone help me?

Hi @SM_Structures,
Information regarding the Global Solver Settings for MotionSolve can be found in the Global Simulation Settings Dialog help page
The Transient integrator options are shown as:
- ABAM
- VSTIFF
- MSTIFF
- DSTIFF
Descriptions for the parameters required for all types and parameters specific to each are all listed in that documentation page as well.
Additional guidance for when to use certain integrators can be found in the Model and Simulation Tips help page as well as the Parameters: Transient Solver help page.
For example, if your model is non-stiff and the contact is intermittent, it may be better to use the ABAM integrator. Stiff models typically have eigenvalues with very large negative real parts.
Hope this helps!

Hi Adam,
Thank you for answer me, I already saw this page.
The problem is that is not described the algorithm used by each integrator and when use one integrator with respect to another.
These names alone don't say anything. Are they using Generalized alpha? Runge-Kutta? backward Differentiation Formula (BDF)? Are implicit or explicit methods?
On what basis should I use the ABAM integrator over VSTIFF? or vice versa?

Hi @SM_Structures,
For information about their integration method and what family of equations they use, please see the chart below from the Parameters: Transient Solver help page:
Hope this helps!
