Optimizing Dynamic Systems Interacting with Particulate Materials : EDEM-MotionSolve


The combination of EDEM (Altair’s DEM high performance solver) and MotionSolve (Altair’s Multi-Body Dynamics solver) unlock great potential to optimize equipment that interacts with particulate material. DEM can be used to simulate soil, aggregates, ore, or even biological material like crops. How Does EDEM-MotionSolve Coupling Work
EDEM is used to solve the interaction of the particulate material and itself or the environment it is in and MotionSolve is used to resolve the dynamics of the system. The positions and directions of forces and torques are sent to MotionSolve from EDEM at each communication interval. MotionSolve uses these inputs to resolve the dynamics of the systems and passes back to EDEM the displacement and velocities of the components.
