Particle Position
Good day,
I am trying to generate particles from the factory colored red in the picture below; however, the particle (spherocylinder) is actually extending out of the factory as seen in the picture below, and this is not what I want.

I tried out using the lattice option (cubic, bcc), as shown in the picture below, but my particle stopped generating after placing the factory with the lattice, as seen below.

Please, how can I ensure my particle is generated from a fixed position from the factory? I do not want it to extend out.
Thank you.

Hello, Stephen,
Thank you for the suggestion. I do not think using the physical factory to generate the particle and then changing it to virtual to release the particle will not follow how my experiment was performed. I dropped the particle one at time for my experiment.
However, using the lattice and ensuring the lattice point is within the factory, the particle is still not generating, as seen in the picture below.
Please, can you help me look into this?
Thank you.

Hi Johnson,
If you place the Start lattice point in the factory volume it should work OK.
EDEM will start by trying to place the particle on the start point. If it fails, due to the start point not been in the factory volume, it will move on to the next point and try again, it will only do the check a certain number of times before stopping and failing the placement, I expect it is failing before it gets to the point inside the volume.

HI, I've attached the file with a couple of particles already created.
I increased the geometry size so it's approximately particle shaped and turned it virtual. Factory is set to create a particle on the factory centre point using cubic lattice option. I increased the creation rate to 10 per second just for testing purposes.

Hello, Stephen,
I just want to say thank you so much for the simulation. It worked perfectly fine.
Please, I was wondering if you can help me delete the zip file you shared back with me because of the confidentiality of the project. It has not been published yet. I have deleted the file I shared with you through the edit option.
Thank you.
Hi Johnson,
If you have a virtual factory EDEM will aim to place the particle centre of mass inside the factory, but this leaves the possibility of the rest of the particle extending beyond the factory area.
If you have a Physical factory rather than virtual the particle will be created inside, however then you would have to change to Virtual to allow the particle to pass through.
Otherwise with the lattice factory this is a good option, but EDEM will pace the particle centre point on the lattice point that is inside the factory area. It looks like from the image that the factory green box is not overlapping any lattice points, so the factory can't find a place to put the particle.
