i want to simulate a 2 wheeler on a custom road.

I have the CAD file of that road, but i dont know how to connect it with the tire.

Please help me with this, and which tire is good to use and how to change the stiffnes of the tire

Please help

thankyou

    @Shiva Kumar

    There are many means for modeling roads that differ from one tire model to another, but in the end a road model is just a representation of the surface that the tire runs over.
    Please go through this link, based on the tire model you are using.
    If you already have a CAD, I'd suggest creating a PCD [Point Cloud Data] road

    And regarding the type of tire you need to use, again depends with some tire models better suited to specific simulation domains.
    Here is a list of all the models for different applications and licensing required.

    Please go through these resources, hope this helps with your query!

    Thank you sir,

    But how to connect the tire model to the road (i mean road reference marker).

    And the .fem road file is not getting imported into the MV.

    @Shiva Kumar

    You need to create an AutoTire entity in your model. And use the appropriate tire property file and road property file. Attach the Autotire to the wheel body, center point and use the tire and road reference markers.
    Refer to the following video: Full Vehicle Modeling & Events Overview

    You can also go through the custom eLearning created for Vehicle modelling in Motionview:
    MotionSolve v2023 for Vehicle Modeling

    As for the query regarding .fem road file:
    You have to create the Road using Road Graphic Builder. And this FEM file has to be used to create a H3D graphic in Motionview.

    For PCD road i have created a mesh file in hypermesh but i could not import it into the motion view.

    Hi @Shiva Kumar,

    To utilize a PCD road, a RDF file is needed to point the solver to the correct FEM file. An example of this RDF file can be found below:

    The FEM should be the PCD output from HyperMesh.

    The PCD road file will be assigned to a tire model in the Entity Editor:

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @Shiva Kumar
    There are some best practices while creating a FEM file for PCD road. You can refer to the attached presentation and follow the same for you FEM.

    I have created my own road .fem file, but the tire is slipping while rotating,

    I have given a rot velocity of 70 rad/s and no translation is given.

    and also the tire is penetrating at the slope, is this the deformation of the tire or a graphic problem.

    Can you please help with the slipping, i have increased the load as well but still facing the same issue.

    @Shiva Kumar
    Can you please attach the model here, so that we can have a closer look into the constraints?
    The issue might be with how the motion/velocity is provided and the friction values being used for the tire and road files.
    You can share the model as an archive model, File -> Export -> Model -> Archive Model -> Pick Directory -> Export (Make sure the message on the bottom left corner says exported completed ) -> Zip folder and share.

    There you go, thankyou for the fast rep;y

    @Shiva Kumar

    You have given a high initial rotational velocity of 150rad/s to the Body 0, due to which the tire is spinning uncontrollably.

    I have deactivated that and instead created a Motion entity using Wheel center marker. The model works fine. Go through the attached model below. And the penetration that you see is just graphics issue as the tire cannot deform like a flexible body, and the penetration depth changes on mass of the body, but it doesn't have any effect on the dynamics of the model. The forces and other kinematics will work just fine.

    Hope this helps!

    So the tire stiffness is not used in the motionsolve?, what to do if i want to have the tire stiffness in the simulations, as it effects the load transfer.

    Hello @Shiva Kumar

    I meant the penetration of tire at the slope that you mentioned in earlier comment is graphics issue. The penetration doesn't change the actual contact forces that are being generated.

    Tire stiffness is definitely used in motionsolve, to calculate the forces from contact with the road. I hope it clarifies your doubt.

    Yes, i have observed that when i increase the weight of the body the tire further gets into the road.

    Thank you for the support sir, thanks a lot. Can you guide me how to use FE tires, i mean flex tires

    Hello @Shiva Kumar,

    In the model shared by you, you have not given any motion to any of the bodies or joints, thus the vehicle is stationary. Go through this video to understand how to give motion.

    You can also go through the eLearnings we have to learn more about vehicle modelling in Motionsolve: MotionSolve v2023 for Vehicle Modeling

    Regarding your previous comment on using flex tires, you would be needing PM-Flex plugin, which would also need additional licenses to create and run the model.

    Note: Before you move to flex tire, I'd suggest to fine-tune the model well in Motionsolve using AutoTires, and if you are creating a vehicle, you can always try the Vehicle tools extension in Motionsolve.

    Can you share a screenshot, as to which joint you gave the motion to and the motion properties?

    The vehicle is rotating instead of wheel
