Using coordinates in Inspire loads

I'm trying to apply a hydrostatic pressure to a face by multiplying a force by the y coordinate value. I can't make this work (the formula yields an error). I tried to enter it directly in the load, as well as create a variable. From another posting, this appears to be possible in Hypermesh. Is this possible in Inspire with SimSolid? Is there a reference document for creating formulas?

    Hi @PBerry,

Are you able to share the model or the error message that it presents?

If you are referring to this article, then yes that expression will not work as Inspire currently does not accept expressions and the PLOAD is applied to each node that is selected.

Does this analysis need to be a Structural analysis, or can it be a Motion analysis? You could implement a spring (or springs) to act as the hydrostatic force as it will deflect under the mass of the part. Flexibility can still be incorporated with FlexBodies. The analysis can be Static and not Transient to take the dynamic effects out of the analysis as well.

    Hope this helps!

Ok, thanks for that. I was hoping to do a quick check on a part before running the whole model. I'll just run the whole assembly. I haven't done motion, so I think that would be faster for me.
