Motionsolve export/import error

Hello everyone,

I currently trying to modelize a kind of train. I have a wagon model that I would like to export and re-import several times in a "master" model.
I already have done it years ago with an old version of Motionsolve and a different model, but today I'm facing troubles when re-importing

I tried several way of importing (through file/import, through the import/export model panel, …) but never working properly.

    Hi @XavierL,

    If you are trying to export a full model and reimport a bunch of times to make copies, then you need to export them as Model Definitions and not just Models. They both will have the MDL extension, but Model Definitions do not include default entities like gravity and the Misc system. If you are trying to import a full model into another full model, it will error because of these duplicate master systems.

    Alternatively, you can create a new System from within MotionView, select all of the entities you want to copy in the Model Browser, right click, Copy, right click into the new System, and Paste.

    Hi Adam,

    Thanks for your answer. I'm exactly in what you defined trying to re-import a complete system (including gravity, misc, …) . I will try cut/paste in a subsystem and then duplicate; alternatively what is the procedure to export a model definitions ?

    From within MotionView, File » Export » MDL Definition.
