Shock Travel and Wheel Travel
Hello,
I am trying to simulate a bump road in motionview and after conducting it when I am plotting the Wheel Displacement and the Shock Travel, it shows that they are the same. I am using a mono shock setup, but how is this possible. This condition will only become true if my shock mount was there on the wheel center right ?

Hello,
Thank you so much for your efforts. No, that damper point was an error from my side, now it's all sorted and also, I am getting the outputs as expected. One more thing is that I am giving the bump parameter as 0.05 in the height, so it is a 5 cm bump. In the front wheel displacement, the displacement is coming less than 5cm. Any idea why this is happening.

hi Draucis,
Reduce the print interval in event editor dialog and check the output of contact patch locations to study the tire displacement change in Z direction.
thanks,

Hi Draucis,
The library and example models with the defined output request shows the proper shock and wheel travel values. Please check Displacement outputs (below shown) which are already given in the library and example models for your reference. make sure that the marker IDs, global and along axis(mag) directions to compare between wheel and shock displacement
If you still face any problem, share the model to us. will will look into it.
thanks,

Hello Jagadeesh,
Can you please take a look at this model and tell me where I am really going wrong. The monoshock points are all set but still the graphics is not looking correct, and the solver is failing when I am trying to do plank road analysis. After this is solved, I'll be checking the displacements.

hi Draucis,
Attached edited model in which you can see the change in damper placement and orientation. The universal joints at suspension end points are changed to stay inline with spring. Let me know if your intended plan is different by placing damper below the spring bottom (as per your's model). While plotting the displacement outputs, check the request ID's in instrumentation folder and suspension defined outputs . You can plot in global direction and also magnitude to predict the motion ratio.
