Using Automator with SharePoint

Hello, 

Looking through the forums I see posts regarding using SharePoint with Automator to both import and export files such as excel, PDF, etc.  Unfortunately some of these have expired and no longer viewable to see the resolution.  I was looking how to properly setup a visual process within Automator to monitor a folder located within SharePoint.  Is there a specific format, selection, or parameter needed within Automator?  I saw mentioning of setting up a "public folder" within SharePoint but no further information related to that option.  Any additional information would be appreciated.
