Stop process and send email notifications when no input file available

Hello, 

Is there a way to stop a Visual process within Automator and send an email notification when no input file is present?  I've tried using Verify Model and Verify workspace but was not successful.  I've also tried using alerts but the process still continues and sends a completion email that is setup at the end of the process when it completes.

Thank you Steve, I will look to setup a similar structure.  Curious, is Hub component required to use Verify Workspace?

Much depends on the structure of the process, but you can usually get this behaviour by choosing "Stop" in the verify options.

Although not related directly to your question, I'd also like to point out the "failed" path that is available from many nodes (including verification, export, scripts) by right clicking on the canvas and showing advanced connectors.  This gives you the ability to follow a separate path if something fails . . .

In this case, you would usually select the "Continue with verified only" option in the verification node, but it does depend on your process structure.

Hi Tony,

Sometimes!

For example, you can verify AFTER a Data Prep export without using a hub. This is useful in terms of alerting and maybe triggering a different flow from the 'failed' path; but an empty file has already been created by this stage. To verify BEFORE export, you need a hub.  This allows you to abort the process before an empty file is created.
