you don't need to recreate the whole thing. Just need to select the RBE and update the node selection.
I order to make your life easier upon selection, have you tried using the 'faces' selection, instead of selecting nodes 1 by 1?
It saves a lot of time on selection.

when you change you mesh, and need to update many different things, you could use 'Replace' Part, to change all at once, updating your old mesh with a new one, including contacts, rbe's, etc.
This wokrs by replacing an old mesh by a new one, and updating contacts, and other stuff, within a specified tolerance..
