Why am I getting highly distorted mesh in Hypermesh?

Dear All,

I'm very new to Hypermesh and I am trying to get a good quality mesh on a mid surface which I extracted from a step file. But the mesh appears to be distorted and I cannot modify them any further. I have done multiple extend surfacing operations on the extracted mid surface to close the gaps. Any help would be highly appreciated.
