nonlinear material analysis Param cards

Hi,

I want to run a simple model from hypermesh using the nonlinear static nastran solver (106).

I initially ran an inertia relief analysis then took the accelerations in the f06 file and applied them back into the model and placed a three -point constraint and they successfully saw no forces when i ran it in linear static analysis.

My problem is that I don't know which param/control cards i need to use to set up the nonlinear material analysis once I've defined my material. Can someone point me at something that might have the answer?

Thanks

    Hi SSnell,

Are you running the the non linear material analysis in OptiStruct?

If yes, you can use MATS1 to define NL material parameters. You can refer to this tutorial\ in OptiStruct help:

OS-1365: NLSTAT Analysis of Solid Blocks in Contact

    Hi & thanks,

No I'm running it in nastran but can try optistruct if there is a useful tutorial

    thanks!

Optistruct is similar (if not the same) as Nastran for creating cards for material non-linearity.

For material non-linearity in Nastran you'll need a MATS1 card which will reference a TABLES1 card.

In the TABLES1 card you input your points for a stress strain curve. The first point after 0,0 must equal the yield stress you've defined in the MATS1 card. Both these cards are easily created from within the Hypermesh program.
