Rubber and metal bonding

Hello.

I have to simulate a model having Rubber and metal part rigidly bonded with each other with some chemical. While simulating the 3D model, do I have to create contact between rubber and metal parts or should I just maintain mesh connectivity between these two parts and assign different material properties to them?

Hi Bharat,

 

I would prefer having contacts between two if I am solving a non linear analysis.

I have done free free modal analysis on a simple model with both conditions mentioned above in my query. And the results of both cases are matching upto 95%.

 

Again a static analysis also showed pretty much same results in both conditions.

 

So can you share your thoughts on it?
