Hi all,

In AcuFieldView, can or not to animate and save video for flow streamlines? this is for steady state condition..

I found tutorial for transient condition only..

Thanks

For steady state case, you can enable 'animate' in Streamlines. See screenshot.

It would be good to use Display Type as Filament and Arrows  or some other options with filaments.

I am not sure if animation can be saved from this menu. I use a screen video capture for such cases.

    Hi ydigit,

I already found out on how to save video of streamlines flow (steady state) without using screen video capture.

    1) make your streamlines flow (Streamlines panel.)

    2) tool > tick 'Flickbook Build Mode'

('Animate' option will change to 'Build' option at Streamlines panel)

    3) tick 'Build' option

    4) Save

    thank you

I cannot even see the streamlines. I opened the data using Use File > Data Input > AcuSolve Direct Reader, I have tried until now so many ways and unfortunately nothing happens. How can I do it?

The simulation is ok, I obtained the vwtAnalysis.pdf with the Drag coefficient, Lift coefficient, etc.

Could you please explain step by step what I should do?

Please check the help under similar path in your installation. There are step by step instructions.

    Hello ,

I am trying to visualize the 2D streamline in  Fieldview. My domain is 3D and I am using the a surface for the seed mode option. The resulting streamline are still 3D after calculation.

Is there any point that I should consider in order to visualize the 2D streamline?

Seeds that one defines in AFV are just, points through which streamlines pass. So there is no way to restrict them (AFAIK).

What you could try is creating a 'coordinate plane' and then instead of contours, show the vectors. Vectors can be limited to a plane and there is also an option to animate these vectors.

The downside maybe that you cannot save these vector animations directly.

    Two options:

    - keyframe animations (but costs time) or

. just use powerpoint > Insert > screenrecording.

I am not looking for animations, In Ansys there is an option to choose between 3D and 2D streamlines which is different from velocity vector representations. I am wondering if there is the same possibility in Fieldview as well.

If I understand correctly, you want to show streamlines on a plane, where the streamlines neglect the out-of-plane velocity component.  Is that correct?  If that is not correct - what do you mean by '2D Streamlines'?  Can you share an image comparing 2D and 3D streamlines for the same case?

If my assumption is correct - that you want to neglect the out-of-plane velocity component, try the following.  This assumes you want a Z-normal plane, and the Z-velocity component is neglected.

    1.  You need to create a vector using only the X- and Y-velocity components.  In the Function Specification, use this:
    UnitX*'x-velocity' + UnitY*'y-velocity'

then give it the name you desire.

    2.  When you create your streamlines on a Z-normal plane (Z - Coordinate Surface), use that vector function just created for 'Vector Function' instead of the default 'Velocity'.

I'm not 100% positive on this - but does that accomplish what you want?

    Thanks Acupro!

I meant exactly what you mentioned.
