When modelling a portion of the actual device are the calculations in the Postprocessor for the entire device or for just the portion modelled?

When a portion of the device is modelled using symmetries and periodicities, the following rules should be respected for both 2D and 3D models:
The electrical circuit should be defined for the whole device. By default Flux applies an "Automatic Coil Coefficient" in order to compute the total values. Assuming you are using this setting, the calculations in the Postprocessor could be considered as follows:
Computations | Are done for: |
---|---|
Mechanical values (torque,..) on the mechanical set | The entire device |
Mechanical values (torque,..) on a region | The portion of the device modelled |
Values calculated on circuit components | The entire device |
Iron losses | The portion of the device modelled |
