In this paper, an automotive radar system is designed to simulate a real traffic scenario to understand it in terms of the received power variation. Adaptive cruise control radar's specifications are considered for the design of the radar system consisting of transmitting and receiving antennas' array. In addition, a trihedral corner reflector (TCR) is used as a radar target and its reflective characteristics are estimated by the radar system. The radar system used for a real traffic scenario receives the power reflected from the neighboring vehicles or objects. Finally, how to interpret the received power is explained in order to understand the real traffic surrounding a car with the radar.
