DEFINING SPECIFICATIONS WITH ALTAIR ACTIVATE

This paper details the scope of work Altair executed for MIRDC.  MIRDC is developing an electric unmanned air vehicle (UAV) focused on supporting maritime industries.  The UAV’s primary tasks are payload delivery and data collection.  MIRDC has designed an airframe and sourced several options for propulsion and battery systems.  Altair created a 1D Activate® model of the UAV system, taking advantage of both computational and empirical data provided by MIRDC.  Altair worked with MIRDC to develop vehicle use cases to exercise and evaluate the model’s performance.  Studies were conducted with the MIRDC sourced systems and components, and a specification defined for the battery systems capacity based on requirements provided by MIRDC.
