Monarch & Monarch Server(Automator)


The Session began with a brief overview of Default Settings (Classic & DPS Mode) in Monarch v.2021 before diving into the LIVE Questions. 

The Session began with our Expert reviewing the following:

  • Default Settings for both in Classic & DPS Mode  (reviewed first 37-minutes of the session Classic Settings and then 38-50 mins reviewed DPS)
    •  Ability to define the Dates such as format, 2-year range, define the pattern, numbers(decimal/comma), text trim, redaction(enablement), & more.
    • There are more redaction options found in Monarch Classic Mode:
      • one can utilize redact with alias text
      • ability to export the redaction map
      • automatically redact sample text - extra security
    • Language options to select font sets
    • check the box so default settings are applied to not only the current template but all other future templates.
    • VIEW: ability to turn off the 'automatic refresh data' which is helpful if working with large data set
    • SECURITY: allows you to save password protected files 
    • TIME Intervals: can define your fiscal year, calendar week and set the formatting 
    • ADVANCED:  can utilize to increase logging capture for troubleshooting purposes for Technical Support
    • DATABASE CACHE:  may adjust to help improve with performance

  • Touched on Excel Trapping which is only available in DPS Mode
    • Option to Import columns as text to avoid potential loss of data during type conversion for fields that may be either number or text

  • File format of Monarch Models:
    • .dmod are binary format  (Monarch v.14 - v.2021,current)
    • .xmod are xml format (Monarch v.9 -13)
    • .mod are older text

Monarch: 


1. In regards to the Redact Sample Text when stored as part of Default Setting you mentioned it will not be applied to previous built Models/Workspaces and in order to apply that change what must one do again? 

  • You will want to reopen the Model/Workspace update the Default Setting for Redact Sample Text and APPLY to the current table.  You will then want to SAVE and this should apply the update.  You may want to review and check the Templates to ensure by reviewing in Edit in Report Design. 

 

Monarch Server: 

1.  In the Automator(Monarch Server) - Is Excel Trapping available in v.2020? (reviewed at approximately 49 mins.)
