Defining an environment variable in Windows

Some Altair programs will require you to define environment variables prior to run.

In this article we will see how to define the environment variable ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH=6200@licserver, where ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH is the variable name and 6200@licserver is the variable value.

To define an environment variable on Windows please follow these steps:

  1. From your Start Menu, click on the Settings cogwheel:

  2. In the Search filed at the top, type environment then pick the Edit environment variables for your account entry.

  3. Click on the New button:

  4. Fill in the variable name (here ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH) and variable value (here 6200@licserver), then click on OK.

  5. Click on OK once more to close the Environment Variables window.
