The goal is to describe how to find Jiles-Atherton coefficients from experimental measurements in order to use it in the new hysteresis material model in Flux 12.1.
Data input
- B-H curves measured experimentally
Data output (python file)
- Jiles-Atherton coefficients:
- Ms: Saturation magnetization (A/m)
- a: Shape parameter (A/m)
- k: Pinning coefficient (A/m)
- c: Reversible wall motion coefficient
- Alpha: Mean field parameter
Requirements
- The following executable under Windows 64:
- MCR_R2015a_win64_installer.exe
- Find_Jiles_Atherton_Coefficients.exe
A dedicated interface has been generated under Matlab software in order to find easily JilesAtherthon coefficients from experimental B-H static cycles measured. To start the application:
1 | Install “MCR_R2015a_win64_installer.exe”. This is done one time for a machine under Windows 64 |
---|---|
2 | Open “Find_Jiles_Atherton_Coefficients.exe” by a double click. The following interface appears: |
To use the application:
1 | Import of B-H curves measured by an experimental way |
---|---|
2 | Fit B-measured with the B-simulated which is used in the optimization algorithm |
3 | Run the genetic algorithm |
4 | Play with parameters by hand (optional step) |

Hello Yann! Can you please help me locate "Find_Jiles_Atherton_Coefficients.exe"? Is it part of an Altair software distribution, or is it supplied separately? Thanks!

Hi Pavel,
It is an old how to we should remove.
Now we have a compose base tool to do this identification :
