Streamlining Tire Models: Efficient Use of Core Parameters for Accurate Testing

Creating tire files is a complex and expensive process. For MF-Tyre/MF-Swift tire files, a minimum of five parameters are required: Magic Formula version number (FITTYP), Free tire radius (UNLOADED_RADIUS), Nominal section width (WIDTH), Nominal rim radius (RIM_RADIUS), and Nominal wheel load (FNOMIN). The remaining coefficients are automatically calculated from these five inputs.

In a test conducted with a sedan model, the original tires were tested over a bump. When the tire file was simplified to include only the minimum parameters and tested again, the results showed similar forces. While incorporating additional parameters can improve the accuracy of tire data, this streamlined approach is more efficient for comparing different configurations.
