S-FOUNDATION Soil Bearing Pressure
How to calculate the soil bearing pressure underneath the foundation model. Lateral and vertical foundation pad loading can result in higher soil-bearing demands using the rigid approach compared to the flexible method. Based on an underlying FEA model, the flexible method considers the foundation pad's flexibility and non-linear springs representing the underlying soil's behavior. Soil bearing capacity is determined based on: - Soil profile - Soil's ultimate bearing capacity - Factor of safety for the allowable bearing capacity, all of which are customizable by the user. If the soil-bearing design check fails, built-in S-FOUNDATION Wizards can be used to iterate the foundation model until the design requirements are met. The example shown considers gravity loads versus gravity + lateral loading.
