Dear All,

I have created the self contact and interfaces in the impact analysis but the body is penetrating the rigid wall during the simulation in the hyperview.

i had followed the tutorial RD-3530: Buckling of a Tube using Half Tube Mesh

i can,t able to find the mistake done by me.

Kindly provide your guidelines

Thanks

Ram

    Ram,

Change the vector normal to Y direction instead of -Z in rigidwalls panel.

    Dear Sir ,

I have changed the normal to rigid wall as per your instructions but the same result arrives

    Thanks

    Ram

    Hi Ram,

I shared the modified model with you. Please run the same and check if you have any issues with that.

    Dear Sir,

Thanks for your help and please inform the mistake i have done which helps to prevent the re-occurrence.

    Thanks

    Dear Sir,

For me the problem definition as follow:

Create a Rigid wall in front of boat at a distance of 10mm. Make sure the direction of Rigid wall should point towards the boat. Also Edit the Card & set variable FRIC as 0.20 for friction

    What to do?

    Thanks

    Ram

search distance is used to find the slave nodes.

What you can do is, move the rigid wall closer to the boat such that the distance between wall and boat is less than 10.

    Dear Sir,

Distance between the rigid wall and the boat is 10mm  as shown below image

    is it is ok

there is no problem in changing the value of d in rigid wall panel know?

    Thanks

    Ram

    Ram,

I think there should be no problem. You may see difference in the results.

    Dear Sir,

what is the distance (d) in the rigid wall panel???

it is search distance is used to find the slave nodes.

                                or

Distance between the boat and rigid wall.

Distance to find the slave nodes.

Also, what is the purpose of the using symmetry boundary condition?

    Dear Sir.

i had followed the tutorial RD-3530: Buckling of a Tube using Half Tube Mesh

i think it is for the constraining of the respective DOF's

    Ram,

You don't need a symetric boundary system for the boat.

    Dear Sir,

Yes ,I have seen the differences and also at what conditions we can use the symmetric boundary conditions???

    Ram,

Symmetric BCs are used to simply the model to save computation time.

If you think your model is symmetric then you can use symmetric BCs which is not required in your case.

If you look at the tutorial problem, it is a hollow quad tube and it was cut into half and mounted with symetric boundary conditions to simply the FE model, thus reducing number of DoFs and computation time.
