How to use meshed coils compared to non meshed coils?

Normally, you can use meshed or non-meshed coils with the same accuracy.

In both cases there are some rules to follow, and also some advantages and drawbacks.

With meshed coils, the main drawback is the difficulty to create the geometry (points, lines,..).

Another difficulty is to work with constant (or nearly constant) cross section.

Non meshed coils are very efficient when all the flux is going through magnetic circuit, and when the shape is complex (as often in motors).

One limitation is when the flux is in all the space, and then the meshing has to follow as much as possible the outer boundary of the coil.

In such cases, it could be needed to use meshed coils in order to have an accurate value of inductance for instance.
