Is it possible to define the initial temperature in thermal applications using spatial quantity?

Yes it is. For that, you have to follow the steps below:

1	Export Temp (DEX file) from a first transient thermal application
2	In a second thermal application, create new tabulated spatial quantity Temp_init by import of DEX file
3	Edit the solving options and select Temp_init using the formula editor
