Problem with License (altair_lic.dat), after launching (CAD)FEKO
Hi!
Ok, now I have managed to launch (CAD)FEKO as guided by the previous question of mine. Though, I crush into this problem (error), that seems to be something with the license:
.
I used the license provided to me by mail by Altair (altair_lic.dat), placed in the proper folder. Though, even when I have tried everything, I can't get (CAD)FEKO to launch as expected. And I can't recognize the error or what it says.
Could anyone help with this issue?
Thanks, in advance!

Hi @Eliasmys ,
Could you please check if there is an environment variable on your system named ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH? The value of this environment variable should be the path to the license file.
Best regards,

TorbenHi @Torben Voigt,
Thank you for the answer and, please, forgive me for the somewhat late response.
Well, I will do this but could you guide me as to how to check the existence of such a variable on my system. I don't know how to check something like that.
Appreciate your patience and your willingness to help. Thanks, again!
I will wait for your answer!

Hi,
1. You should check the file name extension, to make sure that the license file is not altair_lic.dat.dat
2. You could check the Altair License Path in Advanced settings >> Environment variables

Okay, sorry for not mentioning. There is a problem with that... I have Linux, in particular Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS.
I checked the system variables by typing env in a bash and I can't see "ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH".
Also, the path of my launch script is /media/eliasmys/Data/FEKO/altair/scripts/cadfeko:
and of the license file /media/eliasmys/Data/FEKO/altair/security/altair_lic.dat:
Finally, my license file, as I see, is properly named "altair_lic.dat":
.
Do I need to set a new environment variable and how?
Is there any other cause for the error? Any other way of resolving it? And, preferably, for Linux.

I think the error might be caused, maybe, because I'm not licensed for FEKO, but for other programs. Is that possible? And, should I request a license again?

Hi @Eliasmys ,
Maybe it would be best to put a support request on Altair One.
Make sure that you select "Feko" as the product and "Licensing" as the category.
Don't forget to mention that it is Ubuntu.
Best regards,

I was expiriencing a similar issue as the one Eliasmys shared above, in my case while installing ESAComp. For those having the same problem, here are the steps i went through
1. Installed program through Altair marketplace. After opening it, it seems it finds no license.
2. At the Altair marketplace in Altair one, found "Studen Edition License". I clicked it and followed the steps to get my License.
3. At the same place I downloaded ESAComp in the marketplace (It should work for any student bundle app), in the tab at the right, I clicked on the License Manager and installed it.
4. Opened the .exe of the license manager and followed the steps, indicating I would like to use a license key. Used my key and installed it. (After this step I checked if my app would work. It didn't, but it may be worth trying)
5. I serched for "ALMUtil" in the Windows search bar. Opened it and went to "Activation". Then I pasted my key again and activated it. (Again I suggest to check if it now works). In this same tab, under "User" tag, the path of the license is stated.
6. Right-clicked on the windows icon on the windows task-bar and selected System
7. Searched for Advanced System Settings, clicked on Enviroment Variables.
8. In System Variables, checked if ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH existed. It didn't, so I clicked on "New", named it ALTAIR_LICENSE_PATH, and then pasted the license path on variable. Check the step 5. to know how to find this path.
9. After this, my app finally opened.

Hello @Alejandro Merino,
Unfortunately, I'm not using any Altair products at the time nor I engage in any associated work, so I couldn't help you or answer much. Thank you for your answer and best regards.
Elias
