Steel Section Databases
Following the work around integrating the resources in a single place, S-TIMBER and S-CALC, now support the following steel databases:
- Chinese steel section database GB/T 2008
- Asia (Continental)
- Indian Steel databases: IS4923:2017 and IS808:2021
- S-STEEL and S-PAD now include the South Korean steel database KDS 14 31:2017
- S-STEEL and S-PAD also support the database for Cold-formed Welded Carbon Steel Hollow Structural sections as per A1085 standards with reduced wall thickness, in addition to the existing A500 standards with non-reduced wall thickness.
Integrated Foundation Design with 3rd Party Analysis Software
- S-FOUNDATION supports imports from STAAD's file formats: Model geometry using "STD" file format, and joint support reactions with "ANL" file format. This third-party analysis import allows for faster results merge, improving design times. This is in addition to the integration with ETABS, and S-FRAME.
Foundation Design
There're a considerable number of features added to S-FOUNDATION for this version:
- Support for code-checking and design of concrete elements using Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars as per the latest American concrete design code ACI-440.11-22.

- Addition of "Stiff Shell" option for force distribution between pedestals/piles and pads. This tool allows the model the transfer of stiffness between pedestals and/or piles to pad/mat foundations for the FEA-based Flexible analysis and design modeling option. This function applies a single factor in the meshed shells from the pedestal, pile, or wall zones of the Pad that ratios the shell E and G material properties of the parent Pad material.
- Representation of pile stiffness with springs in all six DOF for pile-supported foundations utilizing a Single Layer soil profile, as well as control stiffness of the pile in tension and compression separately.
Concrete Design
- Enhanced evaluation of longitudinal steel requirements for shear and torsion for beams designed to CSA design codes, including the consideration of skin reinforcement contribution, and improved estimation of biaxial shear effects.
Steel Design
- S-STEEL supports steel design as per the South Korean steel design code KDS 14 31:2017.
