My name is Keyu, I'm a student at Western University. I'm trying to create a movement of geometry like EDEM elearning lesson 18.5, the rotating basket. I have tried all the given motions but couldn't create it. Could you please help with this?

    Hi Keyu,

The image doesn't show for me however Lesson 18.5 of the e-learning is the Bucket Wheel case, with multiple buckets rotating round a set track.

This is similar to the motion in the Slatted Conveyor tutorial:

    EDEM Tutorial-SlattedConveyor

If you have multiple elements rotating round a track or point you only need to setup one.  The tutorial outlines the process but as a summary it is set as a combination of rotations and translations in this case.  For the translations we set a linear velocity with a set start and end time.  For the rotations we set a rotation angular velocity and axis with start and end time.

One key point to note in the tutorial is the use of 'moves with body' for the rotation point.  If you have this selected then if the geometry translates, the point of action for the rotation also translates.  If this is de-selected as it would be in lesson 18.5 then the buckets will always rotate around a fixed point in space.

    Regards

    Stephen
