microstrip port

We are using CADFEKO in our engineering courses at UFABC, for electromagnetic simulation of microstrip circuits. So far, we have used “edge ports” for accessing the microstrip.
I would like to receive an application example file on how to use the “microstrip port” (rather than the “edge ports”). Is it possible to connect the microstrip port, considering a substrate of finite height?
I would be very grateful if you could help us on this matter.
Thank you very much. |

Attached a simple 50 Ohm microstrip line example.
I have created two configurations. One is an S-parameter configuration (note FEKO automatically adds the S-parameter loads at both ports internally)
Second is a standard configuration where a voltage source is on port 1 and a 50 Ohm load on Port 2.
The POSTFEKO session (double click the .pfs file) shows the S-parameter S11 and the Reflection coefficient on separate graphs.0 -
Okay so microstrip port should always be added in pairs and at the opposite ends of a feedline ?

The example that was attached is a simple two port microstrip. This could be, for example, a microstrip filter which would have an input and output port.
If the microstrip was feeding a microstrip patch antenna, there will be only 1 port.

Understood, thanks.
I have been trying to add microstrip port to patch for CMA to plot Modal Excitation Coefficient but it is not working for some reason.
I have asked in forum over here
