Hello everybody,

I have to work with a very bad fe-mesh, which has only very deformed tetreahedal elements. Now I want to see, which stresses are available to compare them with my material (Pure Titanium).
Therefore I take 'Stresses' as result type in the contour menu. On the right there is a box with the name 'averaging methode'. With the option 'None' in it I have stresses about 30.000 N/mm^2. With the 'simple' option active I have only 400 N/mm^2.

What does this different averaging methodes mean?

    Hi Malou,

The averaging methods refer to nodal averaging of elemental results, so basically the value 400 is the average of all the element corner results passing through that node (note if the corner results are not available it will take centroidal results)

Go to HyperView help and read - HyperWorks Desktop Applications > HyperView > Results > Nodal Averaging of Elemental Results
