Hello,

I am using bolt connections between two parts, and I would like to know the amount of the developing force. Could you help me please how to do it?

Thanks:
Sanyo

    Hi Sanyo,

you can use ELFORCE card to output element forces but it will not output rigid element data.

instead of using a rigid element you can use a CBAR element while modeling a bolt and request ELFORCE for CBAR.

to request ELFORCE: go to Analysis page-->control cards-->Global_output_request-->ELFORCE

Alternatively you can request for GPFORCE which will output the reaction forces at grids.

let us know if this helped you

also you can try with MPCFORCE to output results for rigid elements.x

    Hello,

Thank you very much for the options. This is a wheel assembly, and there is a RIM and a center part, and they are fixed together with screws. The result with all option was 3E-4, that seems quiet low. What is the unit of these forces? Thanks a lot,

    Sanyo

    Sanyo,

HyperMesh, Optistruct are unit-less. Please follow unit consistency. for example, if SI units were used in HyperMesh then the results are also of same units.

There are pressures and forces. The pressure is given is MPa, the force in N. The result then should be in N, isn't it?

Yes, the result obtained is in N.
