Hex core in HyperMesh
Hi,
I have a similar query with regard to creating Hex core in Hypermesh. I just want to create hexahedral elements and hence I use a value of 0 in Core/bound clearance option, but my hex core doesn't fill the whole geometry. Even if I include the pyramid elements there is still some gap. How do I fill the whole volume with hex core, if I am not interested in generating BL. Thank you for your help.
Regards

Madhu,
Since you have exterior quads and you want to fill your entire volume with hexahedral elements you should use the 3d solid meshing options rather than hex core which is a cfd utility.
see HM-3220: Creating a Hexahedral Mesh using the Solid Map Function in the tutorial section.

vcmadhu,
I presume you mean one volume You will have to modify your geometry to make it mappable, can you provide an image of your model or the model itself?
For an N-hole solid to be mappable, the solid must have at lease N+1 loops of faces and each face in the loops must be quad-mappable, since your model has no holes it requires at least one, so when it says “found 0” there is no “usable” quad-like face in the solid at all, so the solid faces are not compatible for the operation.

vcmadhu,
I see that the model is very simple and one direction mappable.
If you use 3d > solid map > one volume and then select the solid and mesh it without source and destination hint the solid is easily meshed.
If you need a particular pattern you can surface mesh the end surfaces and then use one volume , you can associate surface mesh of one end of the cylinder to the other end or have matching meshes on the surfaces and then use linear solid
You can also suppress the end surface with the circular surfaces for simplicity using quick geometry edit > toggle edge.
just search with keywords solid map in the forum search for several posts on solid meshing, also work on the 3d meshing tutorials suggested before.
