How to apply a pressure to a designated area?

Hello,

how is it possible to define a surface with a defined area on which a pressure load is acting (leading to a defined total force of Area x pressure load)?

The background of this task is to simulate the behaviour in a crash test, in which a cube intrudes a structure.

Thank you very much for your help
J.

    Hello,

you can create a surface with a designated area using the sketching functions, e.g. by sketching a line on an existing surface. If you want to make this surface a non-
design area, please use the Boolean operations.

See this video for further details: http://screencast.com/t/ByaUEF30k7

One thing to be careful about: INSPIRE uses linear or linearized load situations. Meaning: If your crash load scenario will result in small intrusions and small deformations, the usage of INSPIRE with a linearized load is sufficient. In case your crash load case results in highly deformed structures, you might need additional simulations and / or should use OptiStruct instead. Within OptiStruct you can for example use the 'equivalent static load method' to perform optimization on non-linear load cases (like crash).
